This project, named "Homey with Miffy," is a residential apartment located in Cypress Garden, Homantin, Hong Kong. Designed by Ng Sai Ping Saipen, the apartment showcases the client's lifestyle preferences towards nature and the city. The use of natural wood finishes throughout the space creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, while modern Japanese design elements add a touch of sophistication.
One of the unique features of this design is the raised platform in the living and dining room. This platform adds depth and dimension to the space, creating a resort-like feel. By using various shades of brown and other earth tones, the design team has successfully turned a tiny apartment into a comfortable and cozy living space.
The use of walnut wood dominates the design, giving the apartment a natural and organic feel. To add contrast, oak wood and concrete elements are used on the ceiling and floor. This combination of materials creates a harmonious blend of warmth and modernity.
Design Director Ng Sai Ping Saipen and Designer So Sze Mei Venus were the creative minds behind this project. Their attention to detail and dedication to creating a warm and inviting home for the client is evident in every aspect of the design.
The project started in February 2020 and was completed in July 2020. Throughout the design process, the team faced challenges in connecting different materials and creating a layout that seamlessly integrated the wooden finishes with the overall design. However, their expertise and creativity allowed them to overcome these challenges and deliver a stunning result.
"Homey with Miffy" has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022. This award recognizes designs that are well-designed, practical, and innovative, meeting professional and industrial requirements. The design is respected for its integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, providing fulfillment and positive feelings to its occupants.
This project is a testament to the power of design in transforming small spaces into warm and inviting homes. By incorporating natural materials, modern design elements, and plenty of sunlight, "Homey with Miffy" offers a retreat from the bustling city life, allowing its occupants to slow down and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.
